Effective immediately, the Empire State Roar Women's Professional Football Team, owned by Sandy Rogers, will be sitting out the 2009 season. The Roar will remain in the Rochester NY sports market and will stay with the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) starting play in the spring of 2010.
In the meantime, staff and many players from the Roar have resurfaced in Binghamton NY and will be known as the Binghamton Tiger Cats. The team will be jointly owned by John Evans, Eric Jansen, Don Dunbar Sr, Don Dunbar Jr, and William Day. The Tiger Cats will play their home games in the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex on Airport Rd. This will be the first women's team ever to play indoors. The team will be coached by former college star and NFL player, John Evans, who has a strong staff in place. The team will play in the Northeast Division of the Women’s Football Alliance.
