COTTAGE GROVE, MN. – May 9, 2009 - Whoever coined the phrase, “Offense wins games but defense wins championships” may have had the St. Louis Slam in mind when they first uttered it. Those were words used by famed coaches including Paul “Bear” Bryant, Joe Paterno and Knute Rockne to rally their players over the years. St. Louis Slam head coach Quincy Davis must have had that phrase on his mind when his team stood strong and chipped away a 28-0 victory on the road against the Minnesota Machine Saturday night.

The scoring didn’t begin until just under two minutes left in the first quarter when the Slam’s Danielle Cullen took a three-yard handoff into the end zone for the touchdown. Full Article
