WFA welcomes Mayhem
Updated: 12/28/2008 at 2:57 PM
It’s been an interesting few days for the WFA. One week ago, the WFA was preparing their schedules and celebrating what will be a record breaking inaugural season, having quadrupled the number of teams that any women's league has had in a first year. A few days later, the WFA added over 15 more teams to their schedule. “Its been an interesting week,” states Jeff King, WFA President. “We created this league with a lot of hope, but we knew it would be an uphill battle. Some weeks brought us exciting new, and some were quiet.... a scary quiet. We definitely prefer the excitement, thought describing this week as exciting would be an understatement.”
The WFA will certainly welcome the Mayhem especially when it comes from West Michigan. The West Michigan Mayhem have officially been added to the 2009 WFA Season. The Mayhem will be entering their 9th year, with many of the players that started with the original S.W. Michigan Jaguars.
Team owners, Jack &Jessie Claxton and Frank & Janet Cook are very excited about this move and are looking forward to the changes the league will bring to women’s football. The Mayhem have racked up an impressive record over the last three years winning three consecutive division championships, the Northern conference championship, and runner-up in the 2008 national championship. They finished up with an 11-1 record for the season. Head coach, Matt Koch said he is fired up and ready to bring all the intensity to the new season and league that we have displayed in the past. |
