WFA Expands to the Central!
The Women’s Football Alliance is proud to announce the Indiana Speed and Thee Toledo Reign will be competing in their 2009 season. Both teams have moved from the WPFL where they played their seasons in the fall. The Speed are entering their 8th year as an organization. They were 3 time Northern Division Champions and had many players named to the All-Pro team. “The Indiana Speed decided to join the WFA because we believe the league and the teams in it share our passion for football and for providing all women the opportunity to play it, ” stated April Priest, owner of the Indiana Speed. April is a former All-American swimmer who has the determination, athletic experience and leadership needed to drive a successful football program year in and year out.
Thee Toledo Reign are owned by Elizabeth Razzoog and bring a talented group of players to the WFA. In 2007, the Reign had 5 members of its team selected to the WPFL All-Pro team, including their legendary coach Mitchi Collette. Having just completed an exhibition fall season, the Speed and the Reign will be ahead of the game in terms of conditioning and preparation. “Both teams have been practicing since last Spring,” remarked Jeff King, WFA President, “I'd hate to be the teams that play them for their season openers.” |
